DEADLINE LOOMING FOR ELLENSBURG FILM FESTIVAL |
 The Ellensburg Film Festival (EFF) is currently seeking full-length features, live or animated shorts and documentaries for submission to the 5th Annual Ellensburg Film Festival hosted October 2-4, 2009 in historic downtown Ellensburg, Washington. A “feature” is any film over forty minutes total running time. A “short” is anything under forty minutes. Submission forms can be completed online through the Withoutabox submission system at www.withoutabox.com/login/4385. The deadline to submit U.S. and international films is July 3, 2009.

FREE PUBLIC PERFORMANCES OF SUMMER YOUTH CLASSES |
 Taproot Theatre’s Acting Studio opens its doors this summer for free public performances by its students. Taproot’s Acting Studio is giving its summer camp students dozens of performance opportunities, with many of its daycamps culminating in the production of a popular play or musical. The public is welcome to attend student productions of Disney’s High School Musical, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King and I, Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors and more. First performance July 10th, 2009.

YATC ANNOUNCES SECOND SEASON |
 The Young Americans' Theatre Company is approaching its second season - expanded for a longer run, in a new space, with new young talent. It will produce PAST CURFEW: A FESTIVAL OF ONE-ACTS by playwrights dedicated to honestly portraying adolescents. The mainstage production will be BURN, by Deborah Gearing, a provocative work about the limits of social conformity and the brevity of youth.

SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN HOMECOMING |
 The hit Sanders family musicals return to Taproot Theatre Company this summer with the regional premiere of Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming. This is the third and final installment of the toe-tappin’, bluegrass gospel musicals that have been charming audiences for over 20 years. Directed by Scott Nolte—who’s directed each of Taproot Theatre’s five Sanders family productions over the years—Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming takes place on an October evening in 1945, after World War Two. The Sanders family—who’ve become treasured for their musical talents—gather to sing together for what might be the last time, as they’re sending Pastor Oglethorpe and his wife, June, on a new journey and singing Dennis Sanders in as the new pastor.

 STONE SOUP THEATRE* presents its third original one act play festival. A perfect fit for Seattle’s only one-act company. 13 playwrights wrestle with characters that live, or are influenced by situations outside traditional mores - be it physical, mental, spiritual. The last two week-ends in May, these national and local writers will contribute 10-30 minute plays selected from 130 submissions. Audiences will enjoy 9 short scripts per show with everything from the temptation of *Pandora and the Box* by Carolynne Wilcox to the surreal world of the future with *PeaceKeeper* by Craig Abernethy. A favorite will be picked from this year’s shows and featured in the 2010 festival.
