Do I have to be in shape to act? Yes and no. Physical fitness always helps, but if you aren't a fitness nut: don't lose touch with your body as a result. Actors are needed in all shapes, ages & sizes, so keep your body engaged. Especially when rehearsing and before an audition, stretch your whole body and pay attention to your breath. Invigorate your acting / singing / moving / speaking instrument with oxygen & blood movement! Your acting will be more grounded in every move you make & allow subtleties you never thought possible.
